Both the broader history and the individual record are given as unsettled data, marks and meanings densely layered but ever in suspension. This tumultuous realm has something in common with the loosely narrative, actionpacked canvases of Iva Gueorguieva, also L.A.-based. Both painters thrive on subverting resolution, purposefully denying fixed understandings of their imagery to echo the way certainties are denied to us in the larger scheme of experience and perception.”

TRIANGULATION delineates a cross section of CSUN history and it’s influence as it relates to the past, present and future of the Department of Art. By showcasing six distinguished alumni, five faculty and five current M.F.A. students, this exhibition reveals inherent connections that have been passed on through the ether and transformed by the common filter that is the CSUN Department of Art.

The focus of this exhibition is important to the department and the larger student body, as it will expose the lineage of CSUN through history.

Artists included are: alumni Lynn Aldrich, Doug Edge, Scott Grieger, Wayne Healy, Michael C. McMillen and Jeffrey Vallance; core faculty members Samantha Fields, Lesley Krane, Michelle Rozic, Christian Tedeschi and Joy VonWolffersdorff; current M.F.A. students Jenny Donaire, Ashley Hagen, Shilla Shakoori, Elizabeth Tinglof and Emily Wiseman.

“Here’s a song whose lyrics everyone knows and that therefore demands something spectacular to distinguish it. This version, sumptuously illustrated by Long certainly delivers. Each spread has its own elegant palette, elaborately bordered like an early Renaissance tableau, making even three French hens feel like a gift that might be desirable. An image of nine Botticelli women dancing amid topiary animals and fairy lit trees is sure to enchant.”
