Cal State Northridge’s top volunteer honors were awarded to Northridge business owner and former CSUN Foundation Board Chairman David Honda and emeritus speech communications professor Donald Cameron at the annual Volunteer Service Awards ceremony on Nov. 5.

More than 400 Cal State Northridge alumni and supporters attended a screening of the film, “Waiting for Superman,” at the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall on Friday, Oct. 29.

Cal State Northridge’s Volunteer Program, Unified We Serve, in partnership with Community Engagement, will present the 2nd Annual CSUN Campus Clothing and Food Drive.

Cecilia DeCastro ’80 (Home Economics) has prepared food for the most critical paletes. The Woodland Hills chef has also worked in some of the world’s most famous kitchens.

Adventurous, well-traveled, philanthropic, loyal , multilingual and passionate were just a few of the superlatives used by family and close friends to describe Jack and Florence Ferman ’63 (Art) at the dedication of the Oviatt Library Presentation Room in October.

The CSUN Alumni Association salutes Dr. Edmund Peckham, who served as VP of Student Affairs and Dean of Students during a twenty-four year career at Valley State College/Cal State Northridge. After retiring in 1991, Dean Peckham remained close to the university, volunteering his time with the Alumni Association and finding new ways to support students. [...]

The California State University Board of Trustees last week approved a two-step tuition increase needed to sustain enrollment, classes and services for current students. The trustees approved a mid-year increase of 5 percent – or $105 – for 2010-11 that will go into effect Jan. 1, 2011 for the winter/spring terms. In addition, the Trustees adopted a 10 percent – or $444 – annual increase for the 2011-12 academic year that would become effective for fall 2011.
