Nearing the eve of her 11-year plus tenure, California State University, Northridge President Jolene Koester applauded the university’s growth in pride and focus as the campus community has embraced itself as “a place of abundance.”

California State University, Northridge’s Matador Statue starts class today with the rest of the campus, but will remain covered until its official unveiling on Sept. 8.

California State University, Northridge faculty members were lauded for their years of service and contributions to their respective fields at the 2011 Honored Faculty Reception at the Grand Salon in the University Student Union on May 23. The event, which was sponsored by President Jolene Koester and the Northridge chapter of the California Faculty Association, recognized faculty for their excellence in serving the campus. Honorees included faculty and lecturers with 25 to 50 years of service and those that were awarded emeritus status.

More than 300 California State University, Northridge staff members were recognized at the 45th Annual Staff Service Awards and Recognition of Excellence Event held on June 8.

Over the past 45 years, Catherine Jeppson ’71 (Business Administration), MS ’75 (Accounting) has seen California State University, Northridge “grow from a small family to the big family” it is today.

As students return to campus for fall semester, faculty and staff can expect to see restored parking lots and roadways as a result of construction and maintenance projects that were completed during the summer.
