Moving forward with the search for a new president of California State University, Northridge, a committee of members of the CSU Board of Trustees will host an open forum for the campus community to discuss the process on Thursday, Oct. 27.

The benefits of parent-to-parent support for families with deaf or hard-of-hearing infants, game playing, artificial intelligence and climate change from the artist’s perspective are just a few of the thought-provoking topics under examination by California State University, Northridge faculty this year.

Legendary artists Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, U2, Coldplay and others have joined together to support California State University, Northridge’s public radio station KCSN/Los Angeles.

Are you ready to ditch your workout and join the party? California State University, Northridge students, faculty and staff can “Party in Pink” on Thursday, Oct. 27, to raise money for breast cancer awareness and possibly set a world record for the largest Zumba class.

Art can be expressed in many different forms—painting, sculpture, architecture—and is the manifestation and method of communication of the artist’s expression. A professional dancer expresses art through body movement, putting in hundreds of hours of rigid exertion, spilling gallons of sweat through physical endurance, ache and soreness for the passion to perform on stage.

Early struggles in life can foster a sense of humility, gratitude and growth. From these lessons come the compassion, ability and passion to pay it forward in the hopes of helping someone else. This philosophy governs much of what California State University, Northridge faculty member Glenn Omatsu does.

Mildred Wells ’58 (English) was among the students present in 1957 when anthropologist Margaret Mead, the first guest speaker at the newly opened San Fernando State College spoke on campus. She was also one of a handful of older female students to form a club called “Los Maduros.”
