The nature of dance is collaboration between dancers and choreographers, dancers and music, dancers and the audience, and even dance science and art.
“Colaboratoria: Graduate Student and Faculty Dance Concert,” sponsored by Cal State Northridge’s HYPERLINK “http://www.csun.edu/hhd/kin/” Department of Kinesiology, will be an evening of diverse choreographic visions and passionate dancing.
The event will take place Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. in the Plaza Del Sol Performance Hall.
The performers come with strong backgrounds in dance. They have worked in professional dance companies, on television productions such as “So You Think You Can Dance,” and “America’s Best Dance Crew,” in national commercials and feature films, and in major theatrical productions, including a former star in “Billy Elliot.”
“We have great dancers and choreographers at CSUN and that’s the fundamental reason for this concert. It is to showcase the talent at the university,” said Paula Thomson, course coordinator and professor of kinesiology at CSUN. “Because they are graduate students and faculty members, these dancers and choreographers have a maturity, strength and sophistication that is revealed in their work. ‘Colaboratoria’ will explore a wider range of dance styles that are performed by exquisite dancers.”
Tickets are $15 for student and seniors and $20 for general admission. To obtain tickets, call (818) 677-2488.
