Mixed Signals
Thursday, December 11th, 2008Ever thought you knew exactly what was going on in a relationship and come to find out you really had no idea? This happens to everyone and is usually caused by something popular culture calls “mixed signals.” Saying one thing but meaning another happens all too often in relationships and is done by both men and women.
Truthfully everyone is probably guilty of sending out some kind of mixed signal to the opposite sex. And men are usually more guilty than women of misinterpreting these morse code-like signals. But research has shown that women are more guilty of sending out the mixed signals because they want to “test” the male to see if he is worth her time or not. However, I have also discovered how much of a rush people can get from not knowing what he/she meant by an action or words. Perhaps we are drawn in by the mystery of the unknown which is why both males and females continue to fall prey to mixed signals.
So why do we CHOOSE to complicate an already complicated aspect in our lives when we have enough to worry about outside of relationships? Why do we choose to take the “scenic route” to the truth when it would be much easier to just say what we mean and be straight forward from the beginning? Why can’t anything be as simple as Green means Go and Red means Stop?
