Michael Josephson, a former lawyer, law professor, and successful entrepreneur, is one of the nation’s most respected and sought-after speakers, writers, and consultants in the field of ethics and character. He is frequently interviewed and profiled by major media organizations including CNN, Nightline, Dateline, ABC World News, Good Morning America, Today, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and Time Magazine. Mr. Josephson has written seven books. In 1993, Mr. Josephson founded the CHARACTER COUNTS! Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a powerful, yet gentle, psychotherapeutic theory and technique for restoring self-regulation of the nervous system after difficult life experiences. It is useful in helping resolve the symptoms that may result from shock trauma (auto accidents, surgical trauma, war, natural disasters, victim of a crime) or from a developmental history of neglect or abuse. SE may be used on its own or as an adjunct to traditional psychotherapy and is a valuable tool to know. This introductory lecture will describe how to access the wisdom of the body in a way that restores feelings of well-being.

- RSVP: Avoiding Sexual Harassment
This course will provide a general overview of the Federal and State laws related to sexual harassment and then will explore two important topics: 1. The specific “do’s and don’ts” of faculty behavior that minimize the occurrence of a student’s misinterpreting faculty intentions; and, 2. The correct response to inappropriate, flirtatious student behavior directed toward faculty. The old adage, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is certainly wise within the context of minimizing/avoiding sexual harassment challenges with students. Come to this very important and informative workshop because you just may not know what you don’t know.

This workshop presents two very different on-line courses: syncronous vs. asyncronous, small vs. large, graduate vs. 100 level. Yet, after experimenting with content delivery and HOT assessment, we came to the same conclusion:
If administered effectively, on-line courses may offer a learning environment equal to or more effective for learner-learner, teacher-learner, and content-learner interaction than traditional classes. We will discuss our exploratory findings in the process of moving our classes on-line.
