(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Oct. 8th, 2008) ―

Cal State Northridge is an outstanding business school, according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features CSUN’s College of Business and Economics in the just-published 2009 edition of its “Best 296 Business Schools.”

“Best 296 Business Schools” has two-page profiles of the schools and their MBA programs with write-ups on their academics, student life and admissions, plus ratings for their academics, selectivity and career placement services.

In the profile on Northridge, the Princeton Review editors describe CSUN’s MBA program as providing its students with “solid preparation” in marketing, general management, teamwork, communication/interpersonal skills, presentation skills and quantitative skills.

The editors quoted students who said “CSUN has a great reputation for producing great MBA graduates. The school is well respected in the area as well as [in] the defense industry.”

One student told Princeton Review editors that he respected how the MBA program leaders are “driven to expand the curriculum to be state-of-the-art while also adding value to the degree by recognizing alums’ and students’ accomplishments on a regular basis. There is a passion for business at this school that I did not expect.”

William Jennings, dean of the College of Business and Economics, said Northridge faculty are passionate about what they do, making sure their students get the best education possible.

“This college plays a vital role in the economy of the region, and we owe it to our students and the community that our graduates are well prepared to lead this area,” Jennings said.

Robert Frank, Princeton Review’s vice president for publishing, said schools were selected to be included in the book based on “our high regard for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we collect from the schools, and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences at the schools.

“We are pleased to recommend California State University, Northridge to readers of our books and users of our Web site as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA,” Frank said.

Deborah Cours, director of graduate and evening programs in the College of Business and Economics, said it was nice to see Cal State Northridge included in “Best 296 Business Schools.”

“The CSUN MBA has long been recognized locally for its quality and convenience,” Cours said. “I am pleased that the program is extending its visibility and well-deserved reputation.”

“Best 296 Business Schools” is one of nearly 200 Princeton Review titles published by Random House. The line includes annual guides to the best law schools and medical schools, plus guides to grad school admission exams and application essays. The Princeton Review also is known for its college and career guidebooks, its test-prep courses and other education services. The company is not affiliated with Princeton University and it is not a magazine.

Cal State Northridge’s College of Business and Economics is home to several nationally recognized programs where students gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside faculty members and business professionals in a variety of areas.

California State University, Northridge is celebrating “50 years of life-changing opportunity” this year. The university has more than 36,000 full- and part-time students and offers 64 bachelor’s and 50 master’s degrees as well as 28 teaching credential programs. Founded in 1958, CSUN is among the largest single-campus universities in the nation and the only four-year public university in the San Fernando Valley. The university serves as the intellectual, economic and cultural heart of the Valley and beyond.
