First-Time Freshmen Have Until June 15 to Let CSUN Know They Plan to Attend This Fall
(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Apr. 14th, 2009) ―
Students who have been admitted to Cal State Northridge as first-time freshmen but have not yet informed the university that they will attend this fall have until June 15 to do so.
Students who do not submit an electronic intent to register via the university’s Web site, www.csun.edu, by the deadline will not be able to take classes in fall 2009. This deadline does not apply to new graduate students or transfer students.
“This new requirement is a result of the California budget crisis, which is compelling the California State University system to limit the number of students it serves for the 2009-2010 academic year,” said Eric Forbes, CSUN’s director of admissions and records.
University officials sent admitted first-time freshmen a letter earlier this month informing the students that they had until 5 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009, to submit an “intent to register” at the university’s Web site, www.csun.edu. The only way to file an intent is electronically.
Students were advised to use their university-issued CSUN user ID and password to log into the “myNorthridge” portal at www.csun.edu. The students are then asked to click the “view application status” link in the “My Path to Graduation” box. Once the summary page displays, the students are asked to click the “Intent to Register” button to accept or decline CSUN’s offer of admission.
In addition to submitting their intent to register, first-time freshmen planning to attend CSUN this fall must take the English Placement Test (EPT) and/or the Entry Level Math (ELM) test—unless exempt—on or before June 13 or they will lose their opportunity to enroll at Northridge for the fall 2009 semester.
The freshmen also must ask their high schools to send the university a copy of their official transcripts showing completion of the final semester of their senior years and verifying their actual graduation dates.
For more information about completing the CSUN enrollment process, students should visit Northridge’s Admissions and Records’ Web site at http://www.csun.edu/anr/.
