CSUN golf is 14th in team standings

NORMAN, Okla. - The OU women’s golf team closed out the fall season by firing a 924 (+60) for 12th place at the Kent Youel Invitational, hosted by the University of Hawai.  The 15-team tournament was played at the 6,140-yard, par-72 Kapolei Golf Course.

Kendall Dye ended the final round with a 2-over-par 74 just as she did in the first round.  The senior moved from a 25th place first and second round standing up to a tie for 21st place with a total score of 223 (+7).

Five strokes behind Dye was sophomore Ellen Mueller who fired a 78 in the final round, ending with a 228 (+12).  She ended in a tie for 36th place.

Freshman Kelly Short, who carded a 76 and 77 in the first two rounds, closed out the tournament with a 80 in the final round for a total score of 223 (+17).  Fellow freshman teammate Brooke Collins fired a 83 during the last 18 holes, placing her in 71st place with a 240 (+24).

Sophomore Sara Hemingway shot a first round 87 before withdrawing in the second round.  Hemingway returned to the links for the third round and scored a 84 that was not counted toward the team score.

After the off-season concludes, the Sooners will make their way to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico for the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, hosted by Purdue University on February 8-10, 2009.
