EDMOND – “Women: Making a Difference, Taking the Lead” will be the topic for a one-day conference sponsored by the Oklahoma Women in Higher Education.
The conference is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. The cost is $60. Scholarships for the conference are available for graduate students seeking a career in higher education.
Speakers will include Jolene Koester, president of California State University, Northridge. Her topic will be “Reflections on the Leadership Journey.” Other topics will include leadership for women administrators, career advancement, negotiation for women in leadership roles, appreciative advising and a work-life balance panel discussion.
In addition to the conference, a Career Aspirations Workshop is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 20 with a concluding dinner. Registration for this workshop is $125. The workshop will be led by Jennifer Bloom, co-author of Career Aspirations and Expeditions: Advancing Your Career in Higher Education.
Bloom will also facilitate a free session at 10 a.m. Nov. 20 on appreciative advising.
