Texas Rangers pitcher Kameron Loe has become the latest major leaguer to leave for Japan, signing a two-year, $2 million contract with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of the Pacific League, said a baseball source.
The Rangers are selling Loe’s rights to Fukuoka for an undisclosed amount. The deal is expected to become official Thursday afternoon. Loe, 27, has a 19-23 record with a 4.77 ERA in five seasons with the Rangers. He was a 20th round draft pick out of Cal State-Northridge in 2002. Last weekend, the New York Yankees sold the rights to pitcher Darrell Rasner to the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Japanese Pacific League for $1 million.
