(01-05) 21:53 PST LOS ANGELES, (AP) –
Tremaine Townsend scored 25 points and Josh Jenkins made two free throws with 12.8 seconds left to lead Cal State Northridge over UC Davis 84-81 Friday.
Northridge (5-8, 2-1 Big West) withstood an 11-0 run from the Aggies in the second half and played without its leading scorer Deon Tresvant, who did not play for undisclosed reasons.
Ryan Silva led the Aggies with 19 points, including a 3-pointer with 3:25 that tied the score at 69-69. Townsend answered with a 3 a few seconds later and Northridge never trailed again.
Davis (5-9, 0-1 Big West) pulled within 82-81 after Mark Payne made a layup with 17 seconds left. After Jenkins hit both free throws, Kyle Brucculeri missed a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Jenkins had nine points and 14 assists and Rob Haynes scored 18 points for Northridge.
Vince Oliver had 19 points for Davis. Joe Harden added 17.
