The College Board is going ahead with plans to discontinue its Advanced Placement Italian examination after this spring, despite efforts by Italian-American groups to raise enough money to save it, The Washington Post reported today.
The Italian Language Foundation had raised more than $650,000 in an effort to save the test, but fell short of the $1.5-million it said the College Board requested, according to the Post. The Italian exam, along with several others, is being canceled due to low participation.
