Stanford University received a record number of undergraduate applications this year, but might admit only 7.5 percent of the applicants to the class of 2013, campus officials announced Wednesday.
The school received 30,349 applications — a 20 percent increase from last year’s 25,298.
Last year it accepted only 2,400 students, or 9.5 percent, the lowest admissions rate in Stanford history.
This year the school has already accepted about 30 percent of its early applicants, or 689 students. Others will find out whether they are accepted around April 1.
