Agencies outside the governor’s direct jurisdiction and exempt from furlough orders:
• University of California
• California State University
• Community colleges
• California Public Utilities Commission
• The Legislature
• The judiciary
Agencies run by other independently elected officials:
Board of Equalization, attorney general, treasurer, controller, superintendent of public instruction, lieutenant governor, secretary of state and insurance commissioner
Agencies under the governor’s purview but exempt from furloughs:
California Highway Patrol officers (other CHP workers will be subject to furloughs)
Agencies that are likely to maintain normal schedules but implement employee furloughs in other ways:
Revenue-generating agencies, including:
• Department of Parks and Recreation
• Prisons, hospitals
• Other 24/7 facilities
Agencies unsure if they will comply:
• California Public Employees’ Retirement System
