The Oxnard Public Library is proud to announce a musical performance by master guitarist Carlos Gonzales.
At the tender age of eight, while most children were busy playing tag and hopscotch, young Carlos was learning to play the electric guitar. By the time he had finished high school Carlos had mastered the electric guitar and switched his attention to modern classical guitar. He later attended the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California where he received his Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts and in 1980 began a Master’s program at California State University at Northridge.
Over the years Carlos has been an inspiration to thousands of Southern California guitarists. In 1998 Carlos helped to establish and develop the Ventura County Classical Guitar Society. The group has grown from its humble origins of only a few students to literally hundreds of guitar aficionados, aspiring musicians, and professional performers. Carlos remains active in the West Coast as a concert guitarist and teacher at both Oxnard and Ventura Colleges.
This FREE event will take place on Saturday, May 16, at 4:00 p.m. in Meeting Room B at the Oxnard Public Library, 251 South “A” Street in Oxnard. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please call (805) 385-7532.
