The Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees selected Tyree Wieder as interim Chancellor of the college district.
Wieder, who served as president of Los Angeles Valley College for 14 years until retiring last summer, is currently president of the Board of Library Commissioners of the Los Angeles Public Library.
She will take over operations while a nationwide search for a permanent replacement of former chancellor Marshall E. Drummond is completed. Drummond left the position late June.
“It’s terrific to have Dr. Wieder back with us,” said Mona Field, president of the Board of Trustees. “She will provide strong leadership while we conduct a nationwide search for a permanent chancellor.”
Wieder, 62, is a California native, who began her college studies at Compton Community College and later earned bachelors and master’s degrees from Cal State Northridge. She received a doctoral degree in higher education administration from UCLA.
