Local engineers earn registrations

Adam Koble and Heather Gray of Thoma Electric recently received their California registrations as professional engineers in electrical engineering, a top achievement in their field, according to a company spokesman.

“It’s equivalent to an attorney passing the bar exam,” said Bill Thoma, president of Thoma Electric.

The two registrations give Thoma Electric a total of three California state registered engineers in electrical engineering, which Thomas said is an impressive number for a firm outside a major metropolitan area.

Both Koble and Gray graduated from Cal Poly with bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering.

To obtain their registrations, they each completed an eight-hour engineer-in-training exam, practiced for two years under a professional engineer, received four support letters from professional engineering peers and passed a rigorous eight-hour professional engineering exam.
