After defeating Golden West, 12-6, in the first game Friday, Riverside Community College needed two overtime periods and sudden death to beat Long Beach City, 8-7, at the Golden West women’s water polo tourney.
Jamie Clark scored the winning goal in sudden death for the Tigers (17-1). Clark and Katie Teets each had six goals on the day.
Coyotes win 19th straight
Jane Chafeh’s 15 kills led the Cal State San Bernardino women’s volleyball team to its 19th straight victory to start the season as the Coyotes defeated Cal State East Bay, 3-0, in a California Collegiate Athletic conference match.
Chafeh also registered 12 digs for the Coyotes, who won, 25-20, 26-24 and 25-19.
Women’s Soccer
CS Northridge 1, UC Riverside 0 - - Farryn Townley scored in the 21st minute and Cynthia Jacobo earned the shutout as Cal State Northridge beat UC Riverside in a Big West Conference match.
Northridge (7-8, 3-2) outshot UCR (5-7-3, 0-4-0), 17-11.
RCC 1, Orange Coast 1 - - Nicole Burk scored an unassisted goal on a 25-yard shot in the second half as Riverside Community College tied Orange Coast in an Orange Empire Conference match.
CS San Bernardino 1, Chico State 1, OT - - Casey Hirsch scored a goal in the 52nd minute as Cal State San Bernardino tied Chico State in a California Collegiate Athletic Association match.
Men’s Soccer
CS San Bernardino 2, Chico State 2, OT - - Albert Cabrera and Jose Godinez each scored a goal for host Cal State San Bernardino, which tied Chico State in a California Collegiate Athletic Association match.
Golden West 2, RCC 0 - - Host Riverside Community College used two goalies in the Orange Empire Conference lost against Golden West.
RCC falls to 7-4-1, 2-3-0 in OEC.
More Women’s Volleyball
RCC 3, Fullerton 0 - - Amanda Vialpando had 21 kills for host Riverside Community College as the Tigers defeated Fullerton, 25-22, 25-23, 25-11, in an Orange Empire Conference match.
Brittney Diffine and Dorothy Cantanese had 16 digs each for RCC (12-6, 3-2 in OEC), ranked No. 16 in the state.
SBVC 3, MSJC 0 - - San Bernardino Valley swept Mt. San Jacinto College, 27-25, 25-22, 25-18, in a Foothill Conference match.
Iesha Leota led Mt. San Jacinto (2-12, 1-3) with 11 kills.
Women’s Cross Country
RCC finishes sixth - - Katherine Gomez finished 23rd and Larissa Davis finished 32nd in leading RCC to sixth place at the SoCal Preview at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
